The heat wave still hasn’t let up with inland temps pushing 100 for the past few days and making the bite a little tough. Regardless we’ve still been able to put some nice fish in the boat each day with some real quality in the mix pushing 30 pounds. The other bit of good news is a big push of fresh fish came through the mouth a few days ago so we’ve got more on the way and the weather is supposed to break with temps forecasted to get down into the 70.

We’ve had another solid week of fishing on the Klamath with lots of 10 to 20 lb kings and a few steelhead mixed in. The scorching weather of the past few days have made the bite a little tougher but there are so many fish coming through right now we’ve still been catching them. As soon as things cool down a bit it should go from good to great.

I’ve spent the past few days on the middle Klamath and the fishing is in full swing. Some days they bit better than others but we always managed limits and on a few of the days it was nothing short of wide open. Thursday we had close to 20 fish by 11:00 and my guys had caught all they wanted so we left a huge pod of fish still biting. At the bottom of the drift they got a second wind and we caught another 4 at the takeout before packing it in early. Yesterday there were just as many fish around but they didn’t bite quite as well and it took us until 2:00 but we got limits including 2 in the 20 lb range. It looks like the forecast for a huge run hit the mark and fishing on the klamath should continue to be great for the next couple weeks and then we’ll follow the run up the Trinity. It’s shaping up to be a fall to remember.

I’m back from Alaska and have got to spend a couple days on the Trinity and Klamath. While fishing isn’t full speed yet there are good numbers of fish pushing in and it’s still early. We managed to land some nice salmon and a few wild steelhead and I was really encouraged to see as many fish as we did. It looks like the big predictions may come true.
