November 2013

A shot of rain finally fell on the North Coast this week putting some much needed water in the Smith and Chetco River.  A pretty good push of fall kings showed up on both and we had a few days of solid fishing.  I spent the first on the Smith and then bounced north to the Chetco and put together some good days on both.  Fish were running 15 to 30 pounds and snapping at kwickfish and back bounced roe.  The bad news is the water has fallen right back out and we’re back to hoping for rain.

Back in Eureka, we’ve been running daily crab trips and the pots have been loaded with jumbos.  They’re full, heavy and so delicious.
