DSC01588It’s been a fantastic week here in Eureka with some great weather and really good fishing.  The salmon bite is still rolling strong with early limits most days.  The water has turned clear and the fish have been hanging a little deeper.  100 on the wire fishing over 160 feet of depth has been my pattern.  We’ve started to see some big fish in the mix with quite a few in the mid 20′s.  My longtime regular, Nick Johnson from Eureka joined an elite group on Friday when he joined the 30/30 club with a 32 pound salmon and a 31 pound lingcod in the same day!  That’s not an easy feat to accomplish anywhere in the world.  On Saturday we loaded Shellback with limits of salmon for 6 anglers before 11 and ran back down to the lost coast where we topped the day off with limits of rockfish and limits of lingcod.  The variety of rockfish was fantastic with huge vermillions, coppers, chinas, quillbacks, yellowtail, blacks, blues and cabezon.
